Good Crating can make all the difference

Sometimes Murphy’s Law applies.

Following is a case study in which we describe how machine crating can save the day.

At Multi-Fill we learned over the years that appropriate crating is one of the many essential components of doing business the right way.

It is tempting to crate machinery “cheap” for obvious reasons, especially when shipping domestically. Well, that can backfire in a hurry when accidents happen (and they will happen).

Multi-Fill shipped 2 pieces of equipment from Utah to Texas, one of our volumetric fillers and one conveyor supplied by another company. As always time is essential for our customers, expectations are high to get the equipment, install and start production quickly.

Disaster Strikes

Disaster struck and both crates were severely damaged as the pictures below show.

Multi-Fill sent a technician to the customer within 12 hours for a close inspection. He found only one part slightly damaged. It is the top cover of the product conveyor. Everything else was protected and not damaged at all, a testament to good crating and robust equipment design.

All in all Multi-Fill was able to assist the customer to get up and running on time.

The customer did appreciate our efforts by sending us this note, THANK YOU!

“Thanks so much for your fast response to our situation. Thank you for sending your man in to set it up and make sure it was all working. He did a terrific job with my team and it was on really short notice. Again thanks for the professionalism and curtesy!”
